Description: Learn how to design and create beautiful, moisturising bar soap from natural ingredients. This course is ideal for those who wish to create soap as a business but also for those who wish to make soap for personal use.
Once you have booked we will contact you to arrange a suitable time and date.
This is a private personalised soap making session run by Sally Hornsey, author of How To Make Your Own Soap and (very) experienced soap maker, consultant member of IFRA and The Fragrance Foundation. It is a practical hands-on intensive, informative, creative yet informal session.
Although there is a set structure to our soap making workshop, it is possible to tailor the course to suit specific areas you may wish to include.
During your session you will learn -
Making soap using the cold process method
Key oils and butters used in soap
Saponification explained and how to use soap calculators
Scenting your soap
Superfatting your soap
Colouring and colouring techniques
Adding botanicals to your soap
Substituting the lye water for other liquids
Storing, curing and cutting your soap
Wrapping and packaging your soap
The eLearning course notes are provided for you as part of the workshop and will be emailed to you after the course so that you don't have to worry about taking notes during the workshop. As part of this course you will be entitled to tutor support for 12 weeks from the date of the course.
Everything you make is yours to keep but do note that the soap needs to keep still and warm for the first 24 hours of its life so it may not be possible to take it home with you on the day. If this is the case, we will post it to you.
