Benzoin Resin Oil 

***  Please note that this is a newer style to the Benzoin we were selling up until February 2018.  This is diluted in benzyl alcohol rather than DPG making it suitable for candles.  It is also stronger, sweeter and rather delicious. ***

Aroma profile: 

Sweet and balsamic with vanilla pod notes.  Used as a flavouring in chocolate, ice cream, drinks and syrups.  An excellent fixative in perfumes..

Diluted with Benzyl Alcohol (50%) to make it pourable. 

We love it blended with:   Tuberose, jasmine, rose, tobacco leaf and pineapple

Please note that from 18th July 2019 our Agarwood fragrance oil has been reformulated to exclude lyral 31906-04-4 as per the IFRA regulation update.  Any previous technical documentation will need updating, please see technical docs for the SDS, IFRA and allergen documents.

 

Aroma profile: 

A rich, sweet, musty resinous aroma reminiscent of ambergris blended with black musk with a dash of vetiver

Although agarwood has a beautiful aroma of its own, when the tree becomes diseased, it imparts a richer, sweeter, darker resin more commonly known as oud.  

We loved this description from a customer ..."It kind of makes you want to hug it".  

We love it blended with:  Cardamon, cinnamon, guaiac wod, orange and neroli

Aroma profile: 

Whilst we can't afford the natural oud, this synthetic version is  close to the minuscule bottle of natural oud (aoud) that we have that we're happy to use it in our perfume blends.

Rich, balsamic, sweet, resinous, vetiver-ish, dark, soft leather, beautiful old-fashioned furniture polish, "really really nice" with a slight medicinal edge.

We love it blended with:  Cardamon, cinnamon, neroli, patchouli and mango

Also known as ambrofix, ambroxid krist and ambermor

Aroma profile: 

An excellent fixative with dry and rich ambery-woody notes.
 
Plush Folly comments: "Rich ambery,musk and dry wood.  Warm and rounded." 
 
Form: white crystals
 

To use you will need to dissolve the crystals in a little ethanol, perfumers alcohol or, depending on what you are making, you can place them directly with the raw materials and dissolve over a gentle heat.  Melting in a bain marie over a gentle heat also works.  

The melt point is approximately 77 degrees C

 

Dissolving rates: Dissolve up to 0.5g in up to 10g perfumers alcohol

 

If you use a greater amount than 1g ambroxan in the above dilution quantities not all the crystals will dissolve
