Description
This is a private personalised course and an ideal session for anyone who wishes to set up a business and sell their cosmetic products legally. This course has been assessed and approved by The CPD Certification Service.

Plush Folly started by making products in the kitchen and selling via word of mouth. We then dipped our toes in and started selling at school and village fairs and craft markets and progressed to selling products via shops (including Harrods & Fortnums) and salons both nationally and internationally, and at landmark occasions such as The Chelsea Flower Show! We have experience and can help you every step of the way.

There are so many different areas that you will need to address before you are able to sell your products legally that it can appear to be a baffling and complex task. Anything that you make that is sold to ‘go on’ the skin, whether it is a product that you put in the bath, wash off your skin or leave on your body, is considered to be a cosmetic product and therefore needs to be safety assessed and certified.

By the end of the course, you will be able to prepare your formulation for submission to your cosmetic chemist and understand what paperwork and records need to be kept for each batch of products you make. You will be able assemble the information that needs to be put on your product label and understand how to identify allergens contained within your essential and fragrance oils. You will be understand how to weigh your products to meet Trading Standards requirements and prepare a GMP.

Plush Folly work closely with many cosmetic chemists and as such do not recommend one specific company.  We will, however, happily provide you with a contact list of chemists based on your particular requirements (product, budget, timeframe etc).
